Super Bowl XLVII!
We want to thank you for your support during this exciting time!
The Brigance Brigade Foundation wants to thank everyone for their support during the Baltimore Ravens’ Super Bowl run. During this incredible journey, the Foundation had the opportunity to showcase their purple pride, foster new friendships and most importantly, promote ALS awareness throughout Baltimore and across the country.
Here’s a short glimpse at all of the exciting activities and events the Foundation was a part of during this journey:
ESPN, Sunday NFL Countdown
The Brigance Brigade Foundation was first featured in an impactful piece ESPN aired on Sunday NFL Countdown and continued to replay throughout the Super Bowl. Check out the feature here.
Lamar Hunt Trophy Presentation
Prior to the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, OJ joined Ravens players at midfield for the coin toss as the honorary game captain. After the Ravens’ 28-13 win, Brigance had the honor of speaking to the team and presenting them with the Lamar Hunt Trophy. Safety Ed Reed also presented Brigance with the game ball.
Foundation Super Bowl T-Shirts
To show their purple passion, the Brigance Brigade Foundation released a new t-shirt in honor of the Baltimore Ravens playing in Super Bowl XLVII. Fans that purchased the t-shirts, sporting them from Baltimore to New Orleans and beyond, helped to benefit those living with ALS.
The Today Show
When the Brigance Brigade Foundation found the Today Show was coming to Baltimore, they made sure to represent the Foundation and promote ALS awareness. The Friday morning leading up to the Super Bowl, Executive Director Christine Kirkley, joined Foundation friends and supporters at the Inner Harbor to meet Today Show news anchor Natalie Morales and hand out Foundation t-shirts.
Meeting Steve Gleason
The Super Bowl helped bring O.J. Brigance and Steve Gleason together to raise awareness for ALS. For the first time, Brigance and Gleason were able to meet face to face on the sidelines at the Super Dome.
Super Bowl XLVII
Throughout the Ravens’ season, O.J. Brigance served as the inspiration for the Ravens team. On Feb. 3 in New Orleans, Brigance celebrated with the Baltimore Ravens as they beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 to become the Super Bowl XLVII Champions. O.J. was on the field, amid a shower of confetti, to receive the Lombardi Trophy.
Super Bowl Parade
Upon returning from New Orleans, O.J. and Chanda joined the Ravens to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. After a parade through downtown Baltimore, the Brigances were welcomed home by thousands of fans at a ceremony at M&T Bank Stadium. During a phone call with Head Coach John Harbaugh and General Manager Ozzie Newsome, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, expressed his admiration for O.J. and his inspirational story.[Slideshow "super-bowl-journey" not found]
